My name is Dr. Azizul Islam, and I am proud to be a Professor and physiotherapist dedicated to enhancing the well-being of individuals through physical therapy. Currently, I serve as a consultant at the esteemed Physiotherapy Department of Z.H. Sikder Women’s Medical College & Hospital, where I strive to provide top-notch care and expertise to my patients.
My journey in the field of physiotherapy began with the completion of my Bachelor of Physiotherapy (B.P.T.) from The People’s University of Bangladesh in 2003. This rigorous five-year program equipped me with the foundational knowledge and practical skills necessary to embark on a fulfilling career in medical science. Following this, I pursued specialized training, earning a Postgraduate Certificate in Sports Medicine from the Bangladesh Institute of Sports (BKSP) in 2004. This was further complemented by a Postgraduate Diploma in Exercise Physiology from the same institution, affiliated with the National University, Gazipur, in 2007.
Continuing my pursuit of academic excellence, I attained an M.Phil in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in 2014. This advanced degree deepened my understanding of public health principles and research methodologies, contributing to a holistic approach to healthcare delivery.
In addition to my academic achievements, I have had the privilege of serving in various capacities across renowned medical establishments. From my tenure as a Sports Physiotherapist at the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to roles at BSMMU, BIRDEM, Laser Medical Center Ltd, and Physioplus, I have been entrusted with significant responsibilities, further honing my skills and expanding my professional network.
My commitment to advancing the field of physiotherapy extends beyond clinical practice to education and research. As a former Chief Physiotherapist & Acting in charge at Impact Foundation Bangladesh, I had the opportunity to mentor aspiring physiotherapists and contribute to organizational leadership.
Moreover, my dedication to continuous learning has been recognized through the Studies Fellowship Norwegian Master Award, Faculty of Medicine – International Health, at the University of Oslo, Norway. This invaluable experience provided me with exposure to global perspectives in healthcare delivery, enriching my approach to patient care.
